He has received nine national awards, including the 1997 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Magazine Writing on Thoroughbred Racing, the 1999 Bill Leggett Breeders’ Cup Magazine Writing Award, and the John Hervey Award for outstanding magazine writing about harness racing (three times).
