Book Description

A distinguished group of contributors with extensive experience in the dog world, made significant contributions to THE ORIGINAL DOG BIBLE. Their combined experience in the dog world is over 75 years! (That’s more than 525 dog years!)

Editor:

Kristin Mehus-Roe is the former managing editor of the Popular Dogs series of magazines, and a frequent contributor to several other companion animal magazines. The author of Working Dogs: True Stories of Dogs and Their Handlers (BowTie Press), Mehus-Roe has been editing and writing on this subject for many years. She began writing a pet column for Northwest Garden News in 1995, before moving to Southern California six years ago.

“In everything I write about dogs,” writes Mehus-Roe, “my biggest goal is educating dog owners and potential dog owners about the needs of dogs (both breeds and individual dogs). Too many people buy or adopt dogs without understanding what they need as far as exercise, training, attention, etc. Most shelters,” she concludes, “are full of high energy dogs abandoned around one year old—the age when most dogs begin to develop their adult personality.”

A magazine editor since she graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, she worked for a number of Seattle-based publications (Seattle Downtown News, Regrade Dispatch, Northwest Garden News, Downtown Source) before switching to University of Washington-based academic journals, as managing editor of Comparative Political Studies and Non Profit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly.

Kristin now lives in Long Beach, California with her husband, Andrew. This year on her birthday (March 3rd), she gave birth to their first child, Jack Chance Mehus-Roe.
